Day 133
Start: 1693.5 End: 1716.1 Total 22.6
We had another late start this morning, Drinking coffee and journaling. We left at about 9:30. We started with a nice gentle uphill with lots of green and flowers and good views.

We got water 5 miles in then pushed for another 11.6 before lunch. I listened to the second book of Lord of the Rings then to some voice messages. We had a small up then came across a box of small chips that someone had left as trail magic. We then followed down to the other side of a mountain and followed it around for a fun and flowy big down with awesome views.

We took a brief break 7 miles in then powered up the next big climb. We came across another ridge with views to both sides and right before the trail dipped back down we came across two coolers full of sparkling water and Shasta sodas. There were three chairs sat in the shade and we decided to have our lunch break there sipping on our La Croixs.

After lunch we descended through fields of beautiful wildflowers and then through a forest. I continued to listen to Moby Dick, which I had started a while ago. The story parts are interesting but it goes far deeper into the details of whales and whaling than I truly care for. But with less then 10 hours remaining I must power through.

We made it 4 miles to a water faucet and picnic table and we had our dinner there and played some cards. I finally beat Nick in rumie after what was a long spell of his beating me. After that we had about 1.3 miles to camp and calling it a day! We also crossed the 1700 mile mark today!

Day 134
Start: 1716.1 End: 1736 Total: 20
We woke up and left before 7, we were filled with excitement as today was a town day, and tomorrow, we could sleep in and not have to hike!

We hiked past the exit for Callahan, south of Ashland, that’s the normal exit PCT hikers take but we would be going 17 miles past that to a different road to get into Ashland. We hiked under and next to interstate 5 before dipping back into the woods and starting a gradual climb. At the top we had views of a distant large rock formation- which is a popular spot around Ashland but whose name escapes me. We headed towards that big rock for a while with a mix of grassy meadow/lava rock views of the surrounding hills and being immersed in the green tunnel of trees.

We got water at a piped spring and had lunch at a campsite right after. Another hiker named Glow Worm joined us. Glow Worm is in his 70s and is outfitted in all bright orange. Mantis and I were both but sleepy and dozed off on our lunch break. My brothers college friend, Jenna, would be picking us up at the road between 6:30-7 so we weren’t in a big rush.

After lunch we had 7 miles left. They were pretty chill, no big climbs and the terrain felt a bit like the desert. We got to the road and played some cards while waiting for Jenna. She picked us up then we went to the grocery store and got some frozen pizzas and beer, as it was Pioneer Day in Utah, a statewide Mormons Holiday. Or Pie and Beer day as us non-mormons like to celebrate. Jenna is moving out very soon of her log palace so she had limited cooking supplies and no furniture but it was paradise for us!
