Day 137&138 Miles 1737-1786

Day 137

Start: 1737 End: 1761 Total: 24.1

Fish Fry, Mantis and I had some breakfast then we got a ride back to trail with a trail angel named Monica. We then took a short cut on a road that cut off a few miles.

We stopped at a Bureau of Land Management building to get water out of their spigot. We did 14 miles before lunch through a very lush green forest. We had lunch at a big lake with Fish Fry and Dapper and did some swimming.

After lunch we did 5 more miles then got some water and then went four more miles to camp.

An aqueduct, not to provide drinking water!
Mantis enjoying his hammock while I dwell on the ground for dinner :/

Day 138

Start: 1761.2 End: 1786.5 Total: 24.3

In the morning we had 4 miles to hike until the next water that was at this shelter that can be used by hikers and cross country skiers in the winter. There’s a water pump that you still must filter and a building with four walls that you can sit in and could fit a few for sleeping. I found a bush that I thought might be blueberries but I wasn’t sure and wanted to confirm before I ate any.

After that shelter we hiked through a green tunnel with sporadic sections of walking through lava fields with views of the volcano that made them.

Made it to a stream and had lunch there then another 12 miles to our final destination. There was a 1000 foot climb mixed in there but all the climbs in Oregon feel rather gentle. There were a lot of mosquitos and downed trees on our way but we eventually made it to a spring and our camp for the evening.
